Born and raised in the Philippines, April is a Filipina-Canadian travel and documentary photographer now based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her photography journey began after university, travelling the Philippines before moving to Winnipeg in 2015. She takes photos and creates stop-motion microfilms focusing on travel, urban life, inspiring stories, and cultural events.
April's work has taken her from the Philippine islands to the Canadian prairies, with a portfolio that includes projects for Canadian Geographic, Destination Canada, Via Rail, West Jet, and Travel Manitoba. She has also collaborated with organizations such as the Branded Cities, International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD) and the Winnipeg Arts Council. Her photography style blends lines and symmetry with candid, vibrant human moments.
April is drawn to projects that mix curiosity, wonder, and human connection. She would love to work on assignments related to heritage architecture, slow travel, climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable and specialty foods.
When she's not behind the camera, you can find her exploring cities on her Brompton bike, discovering hole-in-the-wall restaurants, thrift shopping, or enjoying a road trip with her wife, Joan, and their cats.
